Associate Director of Curriculum, Years 3 and 4

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) is pleased to invite applications for the role of Associate Director of Curriculum, Years 3 and 4. This appointment is for a term of three (3) years requiring a time commitment of 0.40 FTE (2 days/week) and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the Faculty who holds an academic or clinical faculty appointment. The anticipated start date is June 30, 2021 or upon a date to be mutually agreed.

The Associate Director of Curriculum, Years 3 and 4 is responsible for the management and quality improvement of the 3rd and 4th years of the curriculum. Working with the Director of Curriculum, Director of Assessment, the Associate Director of Curriculum, Years 1 and 2, the Faculty Lead, Curriculum Management, and other key stakeholders, the incumbent will ensure that the Years 3 and 4 curriculum is of high quality, aligned with the MD Undergraduate Program (MDUP) exit competencies and course objectives, and meets relevant CACMS accreditation standards.

The Associate Director of Curriculum reports to the Director of Curriculum, and through them to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME). The incumbent will work closely with the Year 3 core Department Clerkship Directors, the Provincial Year 3 Directors, the Provincial Electives Directors, the MEDD 448 and 449 Course Co-Directors, the Evaluation Studies Unit, the Curriculum Management Unit, Student Affairs and representatives from the Medical Undergraduate Society.  This position provides an opportunity to develop collaborative working relationships with educational leads across the province.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with curriculum development and delivery, experience and excellence as a medical educator, familiarity with CACMS accreditation standards, and experience within the MDUP in educational leadership. The successful incumbent must hold an MD and be Royal College or CFPC certified (or equivalent).
