Associate Dean, Health Professions

The Health Professions Program at The University of British Columbia invites applications for the position of Associate Dean, Health Professions. This position leads and represents the Health Professions education portfolio in the UBC Faculty of Medicine. This role requires a time commitment of 0.60 FTE, equivalent to three (3) days per week, for a five (5) year term, and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the Faculty and based in Vancouver. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2020, or upon a date to be mutually agreed.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide strategic leadership, advice and representation for the health professions educational programs, oversee the development of educational programs, support the accreditation process, and oversee relations and communications with health professionals, internal and external partners, stakeholders, and service providers. The Associate Dean, Health Profession will also work collaboratively with health academic and clinical leaders to facilitate the implementation and ongoing support of distributed health professions education programs and activities across the province. This position will report to the Dean of Medicine and the Executive Associate Dean, Education in the UBC Faculty of Medicine.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the University of British Columbia health professional education program, familiarity with program development and course/accreditation standards and good working relationship with a wide variety of people both internal and external to the university. The candidate will need to have administrative experience, excellent organizational and time management skills, collaborative leadership skills, proven ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrative leadership, excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative negotiation skills. The successful candidate must currently hold a UBC faculty or clinical faculty appointment.
