Assistant Dean, Vancouver Fraser Medical Program, Fraser

The Faculty of Medicine at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean, Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP), Fraser. This is a 0.50 FTE (2.5 days per week) position for a three (3) year term with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory review, and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the Faculty.

The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Provincial Government, is committed to training the health professionals of the future. The Assistant Dean, VFMP, Fraser provides operational leadership for undergraduate medical education in the Fraser Region to ensure a high-quality educational and inclusive experience for learners across all four years. Maintains good communication and collaborative working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the province, including Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP) faculty and staff, department and division heads, administrators in Fraser clinical teaching sites, as well as educational leaders at other program sites. Liaises with MD Student Affairs, Fraser on matters related to VFMP learners in the Fraser Region, and fosters and maintains a good working relationship with learners.

The Assistant Dean, VFMP, Fraser reports to the Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Fraser and works collaboratively with the Associate Dean, Fraser and Assistant Dean, VFMP.

The successful candidate will hold an MD. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the undergraduate medical education curriculum, with experience in teaching; be familiar with education program development and course/accreditation standards; demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and applies an equity and inclusion framework to their work; collaborative leadership skills and ability to work effectively with learners, faculty and administrative leadership; and have administrative experience, excellent organizational and time management skills. Applicants must have a current UBC academic or clinical faculty appointment.
