Alexander Rauscher, Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology, received the London Drugs Award for Radiology Research Excellence for his project titled “Advanced Imaging of the Concussed Brain.”
Dr. Rauscher, a physicist by training, develops and uses novel magnetic resonance techniques for neuroimaging.
The “Advanced Imaging of the Concussed Brain” project investigates concussion in ice hockey players. The results from this work will be both novel diagnostic tools for traumatic brain injury and important knowledge about the course of recovery from concussion, which will allow physicians to make informed decisions on when patients can return to play or work.
