Anti-psychotic drugs carry risk of diabetes and obesity: Jana Davidson, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, found that children were three times as likely to develop pre-diabetes or Type 2 diabetes, and twice as likely to become obese or overweight.

Finding a marker for chemotherapy-induced deafness: Professor Michael Hayden, in the Department of Medical Genetics, and Professor Bruce Carleton, in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, identified genetic variations that predict whether an anti-cancer drug will cause deafness.
