2011 FoM Vancouver Sun Run

Photo of FoM Sun Run team

The Faculty of Medicine's Sun Run team, 158 strong, was almost double the size of last year's. As if that weren't accomplishment enough, consider this:

- The Faculty team finished first in its category (Health/Medical/Dental Division, 74 teams) and second overall (1084 teams)!

- The Faculty's top finishers, Theo Jankowski (0:35:33), Benjamin Maas (0:35:40) and Dylan Stanger (0:35:47), were among the top 100 male finishers!

A fantastic showing, augmenting the Faculty of Medicine's role in creating the Sun Run! Congratulations to all of our runners - and let's do even better (if that's possible) in 2012!

Physician Health Program

Andrew Clarke
Andrew Clarke, PHP executive director
The Physician Health Program of BC (formerly known as the Physician Support Program of BC) has been in existence since the late 1970s. The program was originally created to provide compassionate assistance to BC physicians, including those in training and their families who were dealing with problems that might cause impairment in practice. Initially, the main focus was on problems related to the inappropriate use of drugs and alcohol. Trends have changed over the years and more recently, the majority of their cases represent difficulties in areas other than drugs and alcohol. These issues include psychiatric/mental health issues, marital and relationship problems, substance use disorders, business and financial issues, physicians exhibiting dysfunctional behaviour, and problems related to physical illness and the aging process.
