Application Timelines

The application procedure for the UBC Faculty of Medicine distributed MD undergraduate program is a year long process. The following timeline outlines key dates and requirements. To accommodate overlapping of cycles, please select the appropriate timeline according to when you submit your application.

The UBC MD Undergraduate Admissions Office reserves the right to change the key dates, procedures, and requirements at any time without notice.

2007/08 Cycle (entering in Sept 2008)

Aug 1, 2007	General The 2007/08 Online Application will be made available on August 1, 2007. All applicants should use this online application system to apply. Applicants without internet access should contact the MD Undergraduate Admissions Office.
Application Deadline: Oct 2, 2007, 12:00 pm (noon), PST	Application and Documentation 1. Completed applications, including application fees, and all supporting documents must be received by the MD Undergraduate Admissions Office by the application deadline of 12:00 pm (noon) PST, October 2, 2007. Successfully submitted online applications will be acknowledged immediately by a confirmation e-mail. 2. Supporting documentation must be received in the MD Undergraduate Admissions Office by the application deadline. Official transcripts must be received in sealed envelopes from the originating institution(s). Applicants are encouraged to courier documents to ensure delivery. Faxed documents are not acceptable. Late or missing documents will not be considered, and may render an application incomplete. Oct 2007 to Jan, 2008	Evaluation Evaluation of applications will begin as soon as complete applications are received by the MD Undergraduate Admissions Office. During this evaluation period, it is important that applicants check their Online Application System (OAS) account for any time-sensitive messages posted by the MD Undergraduate Admissions Office that require immediate attention.
Nov 1, 2007	September 2007 MCAT scores Applicants must release September 2007 score reports to UBC by Nov 1, 2007 (via ThX System).
Notifications: Jan 17, 2008 Deadline to book interview: Jan 31, 2008 (12 noon PST) Interview dates: Feb 22-24 and Mar 7-9, 2008	Interviews Interview invitations will be sent to selected applicants via their OAS accounts. Reference forms will be requested only at this time. Unsolicited letters of recommendation will not be evaluated or included with applications. Applicants must indicate their distributed site preferences by completing the Site Preference form. Applicants currently in a graduate program must confirm that their program will be completed by July 1, 2008. NEW: UBC will only accept references online. Applicants who are invited for interviews must submit names of 3 referees. Using the OAS account, applicants notify said referees via email. Referees are then given secured access to complete the online reference forms. Detailed instructions will be made available at a later time.
Supplemental Application Deadline: March 14, 2008	Supplemental Application Deadline Applicants invited to an interview will be required to complete the supplemental application forms. All supplemental application requirements, forms, and instructions will be made available on the admissions website.
Apr 30, 2008	Course Completion All applicants must complete the minimum 90 credit requirement and all prerequisite courses by April 30, 2008. We recommend completion of 90 credits by the application deadline. Applications with missing or incomplete prerequisite courses will be made ineligible if transcripts are not received by the June 16th Final Transcript deadline. UPDATED October 1, 2007: For the 2008-2009 application cycle, all prerequisite courses and 90 minimum credits must be completed by April 30, 2009.
Starting mid to late May 2008	Notification Applicants are notified of admissions decisions via their OAS account.
Jun 16, 2008	Final Transcripts Two official transcripts for successful applicants showing courses completed from September 2007 to April 2008 must be received in the MD Undergraduate Admissions Office by 4:30 pm PST, June 16, 2008.
Jul 1, 2008 Proof of completion deadline: Jul 15, 2008	Graduate Program Completion Thesis and non-thesis graduate students must complete their programs by July 1, 2008. This deadline is firm. Offers of admission will be rescinded if applicants do not finish their program by the July 1st deadline. Proof of completion is required by July 15, 2008.
