This web site provides up-to-date information about the emerging Network and how you can participate, as we develop a research network across the province of British Columbia devoted to research on the education of current and future health professionals.

HPERN has received developmental funding from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR).  Academic leads for the network development include faculty from UNBC, UVic, SFU and UBC, and include the disciplines of Rehabilitation Medicine, Audiology and Speech Sciences, Nursing, Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Education and Medical Informatics.Dr. Joanna Bates (Faculty of Medicine, UBC), is the Interim Lead of the Steering Committee.

The Committee has developed a DRAFT formal Proposal for HPERN, including the identification of research themes, for submission to various funders. The Proposal is posted in Item #7 below, and we are interested in your feedback, comments and suggestions on how it can be improved.  Please send all comments and suggestions to the HPERN email address (below) by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2005.  It is expected that an application for Research Network funding will be submitted to the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research in early 2006.
